Episkopi Beach
A long sandy beach a short way north of Merichas, with shallow water and a few tamarisks for shade. One of the most convenient choices for families.
Castle of Oria
The ruins of the island’s medieval capital, on a steep height above the sea at the northern tip of Kythnos. Reached only on foot — the view rewards the effort.
Katafyki Cave
One of the largest caves in the Cyclades, half natural and half man-made: its galleries were joined to the iron mines that worked until the 20th century. Easter is traditionally celebrated inside it.
Kolona Beach
The most photographed image of Kythnos: a narrow sandbar joining the island to the islet of Agios Loukas, with sea on both sides. There are no facilities at all — bring whatever you need.
Loutra Thermal Springs
The thermal waters of Loutra were known in antiquity — «Thermia» gave the island its second name. The hot water still runs freely down to the sea, next to the 19th-century hydrotherapy building.
Peristeriona in Chora, Kythnos hh
There are 6 peristeriones (dove houses) in Chora. The biggest, which gave its name to the district, is in the heart of Chora, on the douseme (paved surface) lane leading to Tsigoures district. This peristeriona must be at least 100 years old – we do not know the exact year of its construction. Next to it
